Pesticide Fire - Emergency Response / Chemical Waste Disposal

Location: Hamilton, ON

QMLP was retained by our the City of Hamilton to contain fire water from a pesticide fire.

The owner of the facility then retained QMLP to assess hazards, evaluate and perform the cleanup, waste disposal, collect samples, photographs and other pertinent information.

The scope of the cleanup at the site included:

  • Providing 24/7site security, site access control and decontamination of personnel and equipment
  • Working with the Ministry of the Environment
  • Containing site surface water runoff from the site.
  • Clean Up of Spencer Creek- due to the impact to the creek from the douse water and magnitude of the fish killed
  • Material identification, waste packaging and disposal management.

Through the various stages of this project QMLP produced job specific safety plans and procedures for completing the required work. QMLP worked in conjunction with Ministry of the Environment, City of Hamilton Officials, and the Hamilton Conservation Authority.
